Ja Rule Changes Album After Africa Trip

Former Murder INC rapper Ja Rule has decided to get rid of his previous plans to come back with a "Venni Vetti Vecci" 2010 version, in light of a recent awakening he had while in Africa. According to the New York rapper, his upcoming new album will now be titled "The Renaissance" project.

    
"I changed the name of my album from Venni Vetti Vecci 2010, first of all, Venni Vetti Vecci was my baby, that was my first album," Rule explained in an interview speaking on his 1999 debut. "You can never duplicate that era in time. That was my whole life's work in that album up until that time. And then number two, I went to Africa -- it took on a hold of me, when I was doing my album and the whole project, what I was going through right now, with the new beginning, I'm not with Murder Inc. anymore, but they're still the family. I'm on my own venture, so it was a sign of a new beginning, new ambitions, new everything. They built this statue out there, it's called The Renaissance and it's a statue of a man holding his baby on his shoulders with his wife in his arms, pointing to the heavens. To me, it just symbolized what I'm about right now and just the word -- fresh start, I said that's what I want to call my project, The Renaissance Project and it represents what I'm about..."

Eminem Will Open This Years MTV VMAs

It looks like Eminem has been selected to open the curtains at this weekend's MTV Video Music Awards. The choice was confirmed by MTV general manager Stephen Friedman recently.

Eminem, who is nominated for eight trophies - will open Sunday's ceremony at the Nokia Theatre in LA, which has been transformed with a sprawling white set. MTV general manager Stephen Friedman said: "We thought that there's no better way to kick off the show than a performance from Eminem." (The Press Association)

The enveloping stage design includes a giant rotating billboard, curvy catwalk, circular performance space and two massive video screens that will serve as curtains. VMA executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic said the undulating space, created by German designer Florian Wieder, required about 2,000 orchestra seats to be removed from the Nokia Theatre. "Every year, we try to have a theme and purpose beyond just giving awards away," said Ignjatovic. "This year, being back in Los Angeles, we really gravitated toward mid-century modern architecture and the pop culture of the '50s, like the youth-oriented rebellion films 'Rebel Without a Cause' and 'Wild Ones.' Keeping their promise to DJ Clue, rappers Fabolous and Soulja Boy confronted one another during a live radio interview last night (September 8th). According to reports, both artists came to an understanding on the show.

      "I thought that he was taking shots at me, when it was just jokes. It was a misunderstanding, a mis-communication," Soulja Boy said on the radio on Wednesday night. "I'm about making money."

       Fab spoke on how much buzz their dispute created. "We're not trying to make a LeBron special...we smoothed it out and back to the money," he said. "I know people thought it was going to be a [Manny] Pacquiao fight, but we sat down like bosses." During the interview, DJ Clue said that the pair had exchanged information so that there would be no more misunderstandings.
